MAR-STR-001 | A detailed overview of Maritime Structures

INTRODUCTION

We received numerous requests for launching the specific online courses for Maritime Structures. In line with the same, we are going to launch series of the online courses with course id title starting with “MAR”. We are excited to launch the first Module of the online course of the series: MAR-STR-001A Detailed Overview of Maritime Structures with a focus on the Oil and Gas Industry.

Maritime Facilities are vital for various economic, environmental and strategic reasons. They serve as important nodal points for import and export, international trade and commerce activities. Hence, they are vital to the industrial and economic growth of any country. With specific regard to the Oil and Gas Industry, Maritime Facilities are an extremely vital part of the energy supply chain and enable safe handling and transfer of hydrocarbon cargo. Specifically, LNG maritime terminals are very vital infrastructure which provide an entry point for LNG imports as the thrust for clean energy gathers momentum. Overall, they contribute to the energy security of a country.

The module is the first of the planned series and will consist of a detailed overview of Maritime Structures which will lay the foundation for more advanced modules dedicated to structural design of such facilities. Please refer the course contents listed below. The session will include an interactive platform where participants will be encouraged to ask questions in order to have an immersive and enhanced learning experience.

The Program Module will have total two nos. of sessions on 12-NOV-24 & 13-NOV-24.

The program will be useful for the engineers who want to make a successful career in the Maritime Infrastructure Industry.

WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT THIS COURSE?

  • The course is designed by an experienced engineer Mr. Mathew Simon who has more than three decades of experience in the field of structural engineering.
  • The course is designed to have an interactive mode so that the problems / doubts of the participants can be addressed effectively.
    A WhatsApp group will be created for quick communication between the participants and the faculty. The participants will be able to share the discussion points, doubts, queries, etc. in the group. The details in the group will be collated for further discussion in the next session.
  • The sessions will be recorded and recording of each session will be shared within few hours. If someone misses out the live session then he/she can go through the recording before attending the next session. After going through the recording, the participants can share their doubts/queries in the WhatsApp group, which will be addressed in the next session.
  • Recording will be available with all the participants for 180 days. Additional six months of access can be purchased with only 10% of total fees.
  • Certificate for participation will be issued on successful completion of the online course.

COURSE FACULTY

Mr. Mathew Simon is a seasoned Structural Engineering Professional who has a total work experience of over 32 years including 27 years plus in the Oil and Gas industry with 19 years in supervisory positions. He worked in Engineers India Limited (EIL), New Delhi for over 20 years before moving to Singapore to work in senior positions with McDermott and KBR and later to Tripatra, Jakarta. He has all-round exposure to the Offshore and Maritime Industry during Proposal, Concept/Pre-FEED, FEED, Detailed Engineering and Installation Project phases in Consulting/PMC, EPC and Certification roles.

He is highly experienced in Structural Analysis, Detailed Design and Engineering Management for Maritime Structures for LNG, Industrial Structures, Fixed Offshore Platform Projects- Jackets and Topsides (including Float-over installed), Modules, Bridges for CPP (Process Platforms), Well Head Platforms and Living Quarters Platforms. He also has a working knowledge of Subsea Structures (ILTs, FLETs, PLETs) and Naval Architecture.

Mr. Mathew Simon is a Civil Engineering Graduate from Calicut University and also holds a MTech degree in Structural Engineering from IIT Delhi. Through the course of his career, he has led multicultural teams and has had professional interaction with major clients, EPCI and engineering organizations from India, Middle East, APAC and Europe.

METHODOLOGY

  • The entire course is designed in the ONLINE mode.
  • The course will spread over two sessions (~1.5 hr each).
    During the program, the interaction can be done with faculty and the participants using WhatsApp.
  • The online sessions will be conducted using ZOOM software.

All the sessions will be recorded and recording of each session along with the course material will be shared within few hours at our online portal. If one has opted for self paced course or someone misses out the live session then he/she can go through the recording before attending the next session. The participants can share the queries in the WhatsApp group, after going through the recording which will be addressed in the next session. The recordings and course material can be accessed for 180 days.
